Oscar Winner Faces Divorce with His Wife

41-year-old Oscar winner, Casey Affleck, is facing divorce with his wife.

After winning an Academy Award for his work in “Manchester by the Sea,” his wife Summer Phoenix decided to file for divorce. She claims the reasoning for her filing is because of irreconcilable differences. In addition, she would like to have joint physical and legal custody of the kids, sources say. The children are both boys and are aged 12 and 9.

In addition to the custody, she is seeking spousal support and attorney fees within the divorce. They have been officially separated for nearly a year now, after having been married for about 10 years. However, Summer actually listed the date of them splitting up in late 2015, contrary to what other records state. In the beginning of 2016, sources claimed that despite their separation, they remain close friends and agreed to work together with the two children.

Oddly enough, a number of other Oscar winners faced a fate very similar to that of Affleck, where right after winning their award, they get divorced from their wife. Nothing has been taken to court yet, and the terms of the divorce have not yet been justified, but many speculate Phoenix will get some sort of custody with her children. It is not known whether or not the two got into any sort of major fight that has lead them to the divorce, but it is thought that they will not be nearly as close as they were when they were separated.
